Results of Obesity

Obesity is having an excess amount of fat. It can cause many effects like: high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.

Extra fat needs oxygen and nutrients which  needs more blood. That increases the workload in the heart.  More blood means more pressure on artery walls. therefore you have high blood pressure.

Obesity causes insulin resistance which regulates blood sugar. when there is resistance the blood sugar rises.  Even when you aren’t very obese you still could get diabetes.

Hard arteries are found 10 times more in obese people than in healthy people. Fat deposits build up in arteries that supply the heart. Blood clots can form in narrow arteries. Narrowed arteries and reduced blood flow to the heart can cause chest pain or heart attack.

Therefore you shouldn’t become obese or you will become susceptible to diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

Poem of the Day

The Purpose of Poetry
Author Jared Carter
Response
I think the poem was about a man and his dogs herding and grazing cattle. The dogs were like family to the man so when the man from the city came to tell him to get off his land it made him feel like he had nothing left to give. Because of that he shot his dogs and then himself. I think the author wrote this poem for this topic because he told a story about a mans life and he said the purpose of poetry is to tell us about life.
